The vanguard college library faculty and staffs are deep into the extraction and migration of their data into Alma.  Their questions and reflections on the process are informing the Ex Libris plans for full-scale migration and implementation beginning in early 2019.

Work Groups Call for Participants

The CCC Technology Center-with substantial input from the vanguards, the Council of Chief Librarians, and the LSP Task force—is helping create an infrastructure of support.  The basic framework of a governance structure has been established and work groups will be meeting soon to establish goals and set priorities. Each work group will be charged with identifying best practices, articulating ongoing needs, and making recommendations for any policies that might be needed during and after implementation of the new LSP.

The Cataloging, Circulation, Discovery/EX, Electronic Resource Management, and Systems work groups have already been filled from our original solicitation in Spring.

The LSP Project is currently soliciting volunteers for the Acquisitions, Analytics, Instruction, and Professional Development work groups.

The work groups will meet virtually once per month. Some activity would take place via listservs, message boards, and email in between meetings. Occasionally (1-2 times per year) there may be a need to meet in-person. The project will reimburse travel costs for required in-person meetings.

If you are interested in participating on the Acquisitions, Analytics, Instruction, or Professional Development work groups, please complete the following form:

New LSP Listserv

A key concern in the creation of the governance structure and operation of the work groups is safeguarding inclusive participation from our library community and maintaining clear lines of communication among library staff at the local level, the work groups, and the LSP Governance Committee.  The CCC Technology Center is setting up communication tools to assist us in this goal. This week, the CCC Technology Center set up a new listserv specifically for discussion about the Library Services Platform project. This is open to all community college library staff. Ex Libris Follow-up Demo and Written Responses

As we accelerate into full-scale implementation, a host of workshops and web events are being planned to support and connect us. Earlier this month, Ex Libris hosted a webinar responding to detailed questions from the field about Alma and Primo capabilities.  Accounting for time limitations , they also provided written responses to those questions they could not address in the webinar. Here are the links for the webinar and the written responses:
